In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, there have been some notable shifts and surprises (specifically in the last 48 hours). We’re about to dive into the world of Threads, where threads aren’t just for sewing anymore…

One of the most intriguing developments has been the transformation of Twitter since Elon Musk took the helm. With his ‘unconventional’ approach, the platform has experienced quite a rollercoaster ride recently (600 tweet view limit?!). But, as we all know, Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t about to sit idly by and watch from the sidelines. Oh no, he had something up his sleeve, and that’s what we’re talking about today.

Isn’t this all a bit sudden?😱

Enter Threads. Simply, a fresh alternative to Twitter. Under the vast umbrella of Meta, the parent company of numerous popular social media platforms, we find the likes of Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and now Threads.

In which, users are hoping for new options and experiences when they set out to create a platform that – hopefully – caters to their desires. While Threads bears some resemblance to its predecessor in terms of interface and functionality, in terms of user experience, Threads offers a familiar interface that Twitter users will feel at home with.

However, it brings a fresh perspective to the table, aiming to captivate individuals who crave new ways to express themselves. Whether it’s the seamless integration with Instagram or the promise of a more interconnected social media presence, Threads has been designed to potentially meet the needs of the ever-evolving digital age.

Should I move to threads?

That choice remains yours, but if you’re on Instagram, we can’t see the harm in having a look around Threads!

At the moment it seems to be a popular choice, but with the rise of so much Twitter ‘competition,’ it’s hard to know what will stick and be the next big thing.

One of the standout functionalities of Threads is the seamless integration it offers with Instagram. It allows you to effortlessly share your latest posts to your Instagram story, ensuring that your captivating content reaches a wider audience.

Now, let’s clear up a misconception real quick. Sharing a Thread on your Instagram story is not the same as simply taking a screenshot of a tweet and posting it. Threads takes it up a notch by enabling users to click on the shared Thread within Instagram and open the Threads app directly. This seamless transition between the two platforms demonstrates the power of the Meta ecosystem and its interconnected goal.

Coming from a big rival such as Meta, and the fact that Threads now had 30 MILLION downloads in the first 16 hours, and has reportedly passed 45 MILLION now. I would assume Threads are here to stick around, and therefore best to start getting familiar! Plus, it doesn’t hurt to hold your handle (@) for now, so you can wait and decide later.

Let’s set it up!📱

If you’re already on Instagram, I’m sure you saw a little notification pop up and try and convince you to get started with Threads? Creating a new account is a breeze, so don’t be put off by this process.

In fact, you can effortlessly import your existing Instagram information, including your trusty username, password, and bio. No need to start from scratch! This handy feature ensures a seamless transition, allowing you to maintain consistency across platforms.

But here’s the real gem: when you hop on board Threads, you can automatically follow everyone you currently follow on Instagram. Yes, you heard that right! Say goodbye to the hassle of refollowing your favourite accounts one by one. Even if some of the Instagram accounts you follow haven’t set up their Threads account yet, fear not. As soon as they join the Threads party, you’ll automatically become their follower, what kind of magic is this?

Threads have an exclusive club entrance—it’s accessible only through its dedicated mobile app at the moment!

Do I need a social media strategy for Threads right now?

At the moment, don’t get caught up on it. If you’re thinking of ideas in the back of your mind – awesome, but not need to overwhelm yourself with new information. Only time can tell if Threads will be a part of our social media bibles. Is your company on Twitter? If you’re uber-successful on Twitter and get stuck into community involvement and engagement, this platform will benefit you in its entirety, if not, you may not get the best results on Threads, but don’t be disheartened!

Also, it’s good to be cautious about the fact that, at the time this blog goes live, you cannot delete Threads without deleting Instagram too! What are your thoughts on this?

Our advice to give is to go and get yourself familiar with it, play around, and post threads.

Get hands-on!
